Roast from Whole Foods

Updated: Aug 22, 2018

Restaurant Type: Walk-Up Casual

Plant-Base / Healthy Eats Score: 3 out of 10. There was only one whole food vegetable based option for me but the whole menu was limited. They did prepare it well, the service was nice, and they had a delicious Sangria on tap but the one option and no sides was limiting. Also, their menu changes so who knows if they'll always have a full veg-friendly item.

Finally got to check out the new Roast....cafe? restaurant? dining option? Not sure what to call it but Whole Foods decided to make a Brazilian inspired dining option thing and we went....anyways, they had a very small menu with one plant-based option. It also happened to be oil free along with the other usuals (dairy free, meat free, etc.) so that was nice. Depending on what plant-based inspiration you use, you may be an oil free person, too, and it's tough to find ready made options. So my meal option consisted of roasted cauliflower with quinoa, greens, pineapple, peanuts, and roasted red peppers. It was a solid bowl but not overwhelming. It was similar in quality to something we could make at home, BUT I did feel good choosing it. Best plant based option in the world? No. Healthy and did the job? Yes. Sometimes that's all you can ask for.
